The client is a construction and building materials business based in the South West of England, operating with a workforce of around 15 users.Their team works in a hybrid model, combining office-based and remote working, relying heavily on Microsoft 365 for day-to-day operations and collaboration.
Brief
The client was already licensed for Microsoft 365 Business Premium through a previous IT provider. However, the security and management capabilities included within the platform had not been configured or actively managed.
As a result, the Microsoft 365 environment was exposed to unnecessary risk and lacked the controls required for a modern hybrid workforce.
Key challenges included:
- No enforcement of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Endpoint protection not deployed
- Devices unmanaged and unmonitored
- Absence of conditional access and compliance policies
This left the business vulnerable to cyber threats while also creating inefficiencies in how devices and users were managed.

Our Solution
Bytes Digital began with a full audit of the existing Microsoft 365 tenant to establish a clear baseline and identify security gaps.
We then implemented the core security and management features already included within Microsoft 365 Business Premium, ensuring the platform was correctly configured and actively managed.
This included:
Security Hardening
- Enforced MFA across all users
- Implemented Conditional Access policies
- Deployed Microsoft Defender for Business for endpoint protection
Device Management
- Rolled out Microsoft Intune across Windows, iOS, and Android devices
- Applied device compliance policies
- Enabled remote wipe and access controls for lost or compromised devices
Data Protection
- Implemented Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies
- Applied encryption and information protection settings
Alongside the technical work, Bytes Digital provided user guidance and documentation to support secure working practices.
Ongoing monitoring and management were delivered through Microsoft 365 Lighthouse.
